With the flashy lights above the entrance of the brasserie it is hard to miss Brooks at the Beethovenstraat in Amsterdam. A lively concept; inside the brasserie as on the menu. From authentic recipes and pure ingredients to a brasserie full with tourists mixed with locals during the Boozy Brunch. At Brooks all guilty pleasures come together.
As soon as you step into the brasserie you experience the lively atmosphere. Amsterdam hipsters drinking G&T’s at noon, an elderly American couple who are staying in the hotel above the brasserie are enjoying their Summer rolls, and next to them a threesome drinking cappuccinos while doing business on their unfolded laptops.
Why they’re sitting at Brooks is something we get. It feels like you’re in New York. Or maybe that’s just because of the name. The pattern on the floor tiles mixed with wood parquet. The fire place. The bench with leather seats where you can sit for hours. The spacious terrace at the front of the brasserie and the conservatory that lights up the brasserie with sun- and daylight. Diverse styles from all over the world meet at Brooks.
And that meeting continuous on the menu: a big American pancake stack, Eggs Benedict, Mexican breakfast burrito or Vietnamese Summer rolls: it’s all on there. The salmon is smoked in-house and the Hollandaise sauce is freshly whipped. Our table was full with delicious dishes but not for long! Brooks is a place we recommend.
Brooks’ Boozy Brunch
Every last Sunday of the month it’s time for Brooks’ Boozy Brunch. All favorites from the menu are being served over brunch occupied with some alcoholic beverages. What else can you wish for? For all moms, there is good news: Brooks hires a nanny during brunch so she can entertain the kids at the long table at the back of the brasserie, while you can enjoy your cocktails.
